Design credit: Nina of Nina Reads

Hey Everyone!

Today’s daily topic is Positive experiences with books... this is also a short story.

The Blog

So I started my blog, as many of you know, in early Jan. I set it up and let it fly. My very first week I recieved a tweet from Nina Berry asking me to be apart of her cover reveal!!! (insert major squealing)

My blog and my twitter became awesomely connected in my eyes that way.

Twitter

Through twitter I gained I met a lot of awesome people and learned a lot about publishing. I found myself becoming more and more intrigued and loving how I could connect with like mind book lovers! I started following industry people and author. Making a few good friends.

Publishing JOB OH MY!!! ^_^

unexpectedly one day I received a tweet.

Through my tweets, an agent had found my blog and saw that I wanted to work in publishing.

She wanted to know if I would be interested in interning for her Agency in NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Squealing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

<*_*>

Unfortunately I was unable to except but I was so excited! I never expected my blog to bring me such an awesome gift.

I am so ready to move to NYC after graduation and pursue this career now. Before working in publishing was just a dream, and now I know that it is a viable one that I can make happen and it's just because  of blogging that I know this.

  3. Wow! Boy are you lucky! I'd say my biggest tip for networking is get on Twitter (if you aren't already) and start hanging out there. Some of my best blogging friends are completely through twitter, and I spend a lot of my networking time there!

  5. That's awesome! Sounds like you're doing pretty well with networking. As for finding locals, keep your eyes peeled for folks who mention they live near you or google your state/city in connection with book blogs and see who pops up. It's amazing who you might discover doesn't live too far away.

  7. Now that is an awesome story! An intern invite? So amazing. Working in a publishing job would be icing on the cake. Too bad there aren't any publishers in my part of Florida.

  8. That is incredible! Well done you!

I got to know other bloggers through Twitter and noticing they were going to a book signing in our general area. I didn't even realize that anyone lived near me! I chimed in and said I wanted to go too - and I met about 7 other bloggers there. I've met them again and again at other events, and chatting on Twitter. We don't necessarily read the same genres, but we all love reading so it works. Good Luck!
