Design credit: Nina of Nina Reads

Hey Everyone!

Today’s daily topic is Positive experiences with books... this is also a short story.

The Blog

So I started my blog, as many of you know, in early Jan. I set it up and let it fly. My very first week I recieved a tweet from Nina Berry asking me to be apart of her cover reveal!!! (insert major squealing)

My blog and my twitter became awesomely connected in my eyes that way.

Through twitter I gained I met a lot of awesome people and learned a lot about publishing. I found myself becoming more and more intrigued and loving how I could connect with like mind book lovers! I started following industry people and author. Making a few good friends.

Publishing JOB OH MY!!! ^_^

unexpectedly one day I received a tweet.

Through my tweets, an agent had found my blog and saw that I wanted to work in publishing.

She wanted to know if I would be interested in interning for her Agency in NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I was unable to except but I was so excited! I never expected my blog to bring me such an awesome gift.

I am so ready to move to NYC after graduation and pursue this career now. Before working in publishing was just a dream, and now I know that it is a viable one that I can make happen and it's just because  of blogging that I know this.
IN SHORT BLOGGING HAS made the biggest impact on my reading life

p.s. I really do need some help actually networking. any ideas?? I would love to make some blogging friends but i haven't thus far.

  1. awesome for you to be contacted like that!! I am sure you will get lots of inspiration from visiting the other posts today.

Maybe not mine, but I'll give you a thumbs up anyway. =)

    Good luck with your career!

  2. That is an awesome testimony to the power of a blog! And really good omen for your future success :)

Good luck in your senior year and remember us lil guys when you hit the bright lights and big NYC :)

  3. Wow! Boy are you lucky! I'd say my biggest tip for networking is get on Twitter (if you aren't already) and start hanging out there. Some of my best blogging friends are completely through twitter, and I spend a lot of my networking time there!

  4. What an incredible story. Good luck to you.

  5. That's awesome! Sounds like you're doing pretty well with networking. As for finding locals, keep your eyes peeled for folks who mention they live near you or google your state/city in connection with book blogs and see who pops up. It's amazing who you might discover doesn't live too far away.

  6. Sounds like you've have some great experiences already! I'm so glad blogging has changed your perspective in that.

  7. Now that is an awesome story! An intern invite? So amazing. Working in a publishing job would be icing on the cake. Too bad there aren't any publishers in my part of Florida.

  8. That is incredible! Well done you!

I got to know other bloggers through Twitter and noticing they were going to a book signing in our general area. I didn't even realize that anyone lived near me! I chimed in and said I wanted to go too - and I met about 7 other bloggers there. I've met them again and again at other events, and chatting on Twitter. We don't necessarily read the same genres, but we all love reading so it works. Good Luck!

  9. Wow! What an amazing welcome to book blogging. :) :)

  10. Wow that's awesome. I guess you never know who's going to see your posts. As for networking...going to signings are a great way to meet other bloggers.

  12. I definitely agree with Twitter for networking, not only is it great for chatting with other bloggers but authors as well.

Becoming an intern would have been wonderful!

Thank-you for stopping by my blog :)

  13. Wow, that's pretty amazing! :D I've never heard of someone being contacted by a publisher for an internship that way before, but hopefully once you're able to accept it you can find another internship easily. :)

    Thanks for sharing! :D
